GUNDAM POWERED GM CARDIGAN!

LHey all,
recently picked up another gundam kit at my local hobby shop, the Powered GM Cardigan. It is one of the newer kits made by Bandai, and my first High-grade Gunpla kit I have built. It is modeled in 1/144 scale, so it stands in about 4-5 inches tall depending how you decide to pose it.
This has got to be the model I have put the least work into, Didn't even have to spray paint it, just had to outline the panels. (One thing I forgot to do is put a layer of glosscoat... Will do that eventually.) I think it turned out pretty decent.
The kit came with multiple variation bits to costomize the estetics of the model. I decided to build it stock, as Pilot Fumina Hoshino had it. My only major gripe about the model is the stock backpack. It often effects the model making it hard to pose and keep the balance. To solve this I used the extra backpack included in the kit, that did not have the equipment attached to it like on the boxart.
So enough talk, and let's get to what you'll came to see, pictures!
I chose this model over the others because of the overall clunky-ness of the armor, while still taking the sleak style of Eastern Mecha into account. It's a good meating point for both eastern and western design.

Definitely more gunpla kits to be featured on this blog as we go along. ;)
That's all for now,
Ya'll stay safe out there.

Mech Exchange!

Hey all, in January their was a CBT mech exchange on a forum I'm on, and got the rare priviledge to work with 'Phlop' of Camospecs.
He painted up a very sharp looking 2nd Benjamin Regulars Sunder and was kind enough to give me the names of the paints he used.
(One of these days I oughtta through together a short tutorial to show how he painted the mini up... Soon TM.
In turn I painted up a Clan Ghost Bear Alpha Galaxy Vulture, below are pics of both minis.
(Please excuse the sheer crappyness of the picture I took of the Vulture.)

Overall their is much too learn from The members of Camospecs,
Anyways, that is all for now,
See you guys real soon and stay safe out there.

MWO MECH REPAINTS!

Hey all, in Febuary I realised I painted up my MWO CBT scale minis in Enamel paints. :S
So I begain to strip off paint on the major panels, and repaint them using the proper acrylic paints.
Recently I have been working on a Battalion sized unit painted up in House Kurita's 2nd Benjamin Regulars. (Link to their Wiki page on Sarna... http://www.sarna.net/wiki/2nd_Benjamin_Regulars

The 2nd Benjamin regulars are painted in white-Brown.
The brown is located on the
-Upper Legs
-Center Torso
-Upper arms W/ Shoulders
Likewise, the white is painted on the
-Lower Legs and arms
-Right torso
-Left Torso

A chain bear trap is painted on the upper portion of the right arm, as if to connect to the Kurita crest.
(As referenced by the camospecs examples found here... http://www.camospecs.com/Unit.asp?ID=115
On mine I avoided doing this in fear of screwing up the rest of the paint scheme.

See attached pics below

On the right arm of the awesome mech I painted in Japanese "Lyran Scum!" Using Google translate so I'm not sure how close I got to it. Lol.
If you are interested in aquiring some of these fine CBT models, you can contact me via Google+ and I can point you in the right direction.

I think that's pretty much it for this update,
Stay safe out there.
See ya'al soon.

BACK IN BLACK!

Back in black!
Dark grey..? Light grey..? No? Okay, Olive drab I geuss.
Hey all, I'd like to show what I've painted up/worked on since January; starting with the most recent of the bunch.
I just got one of the CBT scale Doloire mechs from the Dark Age. Since I don't have a favorite faction in that timeline, I decided to paint it in a generic camoscheme.
All in all the mech went together quite well, with these major peices.
-Torso assembly
-Hip assembly (W/ Left leg attached)
-Right leg seperate
-Shoulder mount (Left/right arm)
-Upper and lower right/left arm
-Large laser peices that attach to the lower arms.

I pinned the mini where applicable. (Torso/ hip, right leg joint)
Unfortunately I don't have a picture with out any paint on it, about the closest thing I've got to that is it sitting in primer.
I used 'Krylon grey primer' for the base coat, then dusted a white primer on top of that.
This helps with the artificial highlights that you add on where you would imagine light would hit and refract on the real obj.

With the dusted primer on top

All in all if you're debating picking up this mech, I'd say that you are getting your money's worth. Just about my only complaint is how the right leg connects to the waist, it leaves a gap between the leg and hip assembly that isn't there on the left side. Luckily this can be quickly resolved with some very minor pinning.

Over the next few weeks I'll update the blog with the last 4-5 months worth of projects. To keep up with the blog, make sure you subscribe via the email subscription box to the right of this page. ---->

I've also got a 1/144 scale Gundam Mecha in the works, I should have it finished soon enough.
Here is a small preview... I think it's turning out rather well.

In the meantime, Thank you for looking.
See ya'al soon.
